To showcase the highlight of the school administration, recapitulate the education experience, and make further improvements, Shandong Experimental High School (SEHS) held a referendum on the selection of ten significant events in 2018. Through the faculty's vote, the school determined the "Ten Significant Events of SEHS in 2018."

1. 70 Years' Vicissitude, 70 Years' Dream

2018 is the 70th anniversary of SEHS. To commemorate, the school has organized numerous events. All the students, teachers, and alumni from SEHS looked back to the ups and downs of the past 70 years, cherished the accomplishments of the school, and expected its new progress. These events have had widespread impacts in the country.

2. Honored Many Awards, Led Education in Jinan

In 2018, the school has been awarded "The Exemplary School of National Defense Education," "The Advanced Unit of School Literature& Art Composition," "The Exemplary 'Home of Faculty' in Shandong," etc. The Jinan Education Bureau has recognized it as one of the first “Pilot Schools."

3. Outstanding Achievements in Disciplinary Competitions

In 2018, the school continued to make successful attainments in disciplinary competitions, and the number of students awarded has ranked the first in Shandong Province. In physics, 22 students have won the First Prize of National Physics Contest in Shandong District; in the national final, 3 students have won one Gold Prize, one Silver Prize, and one Bronze Prize, respectively; and Li Wenrui has been admitted into the National Physics Competition Team. As for mathematics, 7 students have obtained the First Prize of National Mathematics Contest in Shandong District; Wang Zhen'an has been awarded the Gold Medal of the National Mathematics Winter Camp for High School Students and chosen by the National Mathematics Competition Team. Moreover, 24 students have won the First Prize of National IT Contest in Shandong District. In the 15th International Geography Olympiad, Sui Zhaoxu and Liu Zongyi have acquired the Gold Medal and the Bronze Medal, respectively. It is the first time that the Chinese Team has obtained a Gold Medal in this contest.

4. Preeminent Performance in the University Entrance Examination, Enrolled in Prestigious Universities

In the 2018 University Entrance Examination, the school had unparalleled results in its history. 1045 applications have passed the first round of the Independent Recruitment, the first in Shandong and second in China. In addition, 80 applications have passed the first round of the Comprehensive Evaluation, ranked the first in Shandong. All 81 graduates from the International Department have been matriculated by outstanding universities in the US, Canada, the UK, and Australia. Students received 437 offers, 5.7 per person on average. More than 43% of the students have been admitted into TOP 30 Universities in the US. Furthermore, all 44 graduates of the Pilot Program have enrolled in 16 aerospace institutions around the country, realizing their flying dream. In 2018, the school has been conferred the "Eminent Student Source Base" by more than 50 universities.

5. Playing the Leading Role as a Well-Recognized School, Expanding Cultural and Educational Communication

In 2018, the school has held The Principal Forum of National Key Schools and Experimental Schools, Fundamental Education Forum of High Schools in Shandong, the 1st Haiyou International Student Forum, the 7th Teacher Developmental Forum in Shandong, and many other influential education events. Through deep discussion with domestic and foreign high schools as well as cultural organizations, the school exchanged its experience with others.

6. Development of the SEHS Educational Group, Exploration on the Combination of Middle and High School Education

In April 2018, the University City Campus has become one of the core campuses of the Educational Group. In October, the Educational Group has signed the Treaty of Establishing Jinan New-Pilot Experimental Foreign Language School. Experimental Foreign Language School is going to enroll students in September this year. In November, it signed the Treaty of Constructing High-Speed Railroad Weihe School.

7. The Experience of SEHS was publicized by the National Education Department

The "Student's Self Improvement Action" of SEHS was awarded the Jinan Typical Morality-Cultivation Activity. "The Practice and Cultivation of Senior Students' Mentoring in High School" composed by the school was recognized as the meaningful experience of national morality-cultivation and publicized by the Educational Department.

8. Meeting of Experienced Headteachers, Sharing of New Reflections in Education

SEHS held the 11th headteacher seminar. It also compiled and printed 4 books on morality-cultivation ("Focusing on Core Abilities, Embodying the Strength of Morality-Cultivation," "Compilation of Thematic Class Meetings," "Training of Headteachers," and "I Love My Headteacher") as a systematic summary of the morality-cultivation work of the school in the recent two years. The League of Morality-Cultivation and The Studio of Celebrated Headteachers have become new platforms for the improvement of headteachers.

9. Improved Teaching Capabilities of SEHS Teachers

In the "One Good Class & One Famous Teacher" activity, the classes of 30 teachers from SEHS, including Cheng Chunxian, Shen Ming, Gao Hua, and Zhu Qiang, have been evaluated as the Provincial Excellent Class. In a variety of teaching evaluations, 149 teachers from SEHS have achieved city- or higher-level awards.

10. Construct a Diverse Platform, Provide Every Student with Boundless Space to Take the Initiative to Develop

Students from SEHS have managed to acquire striking prizes from the International Space Settlement Design Competition, British Physics Olympiad, International Youth Innovation Design Competition, and International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition. The number of students accepted by the Elite Plan is indubitably the first in Shandong Province. 2 Students have been awarded the highest prize in the National Final of Yayuan Cup High School Student Historical Composition Competition. One student has been offered the only First Prize in Shandong Province in the final round of "Tomorrow's Little Scientist." Students also frequently succeeded in The New Conceptual Composition Competition, Beijing University Peiwen Cup Creative Composition Competition, Ye Shengtao National New Composition Competition, and so on. The musical "Post of Love" won the first place in the 6th Shandong Arts Performance and was promoted to the National Performance.
